Fall into NATIVES 2024 Garden Habitat Walk

  • AH Arts 54 First Avenue Atlantic Highlands, NJ, 07716 United States (map)

Join Wild About Atlantic Highlands & AHArts for our special FALL into NATIVES 2024 Garden Habitat Walk!

Saturday, October 12, 11-3

(Rain Date: October 19)

Come; see how together we are bolstering our local ecosystem—one native plant at a time! 8 or 9 NWF Certified Wildlife Habitats will be featured!

Garden owners, by showcasing their native plants, will share how they’ve adapted their yards into wildlife habitats, and, in turn, helped reinvigorate our local environment.

Our self-guided, habitat walk is not your typical garden tour of well-manicured lawns and exotic plants. For our habitat owners, having a ‘perfect,’ BEAUTIFUL garden has taken on new meaning: our gardeners’ goal isn’t to have a garden that’s just pretty, but one that helps wildlife and strengthens the environment; it’s about protecting and preserving. What you’ll see are lovely garden habitats—as inviting to their wildlife friends as they are to humans.

You’ll see gardens where bees can collect pollen, where butterflies can drink nectar, where birds can find insects to feed their young, and where ecological practices are encouraged. Each garden is a work in progress, some more ‘finished’ than others.

In addition to, and complimenting the Garden Habitat Walk, AHArts will be showcasing the work of Robert O’Connor in their main gallery at 54 First Avenue in Atlantic Highlands (Sept. 21-Oct. 26). His exhibition, titled “Upward Toward the Light,” focuses on trees, native plants, and the philosophy that plants are an integral and important part of our everyday lives.Additionally, Robert, an avid and passionate, native-plant gardener, will be one of the garden hosts for the Walk.

Join our gardeners for a new (actually, a very old) way of looking at gardening! A map of the participating hosts will be provided to registrants via email by 8 AM the morning of the Walk. All locations are within Atlantic Highlands.

Walking or biking is encouraged. The Garden Habitat Walk is free, but a DONATION in any amount will help us to keep offering programs like this. You can donate using this link: https://www.aharts.org/donate

We ask that you register below so that we can keep track of the number of attendees and have contact information should we need to reschedule or cancel due to the weather.
