Most everything that you do can be considered art. There is the art of living, the art of friendship, the art of giving, the art of conversation, the art of expression. When you share…..it’s art. “ I am sharing some of my photography with you. Enjoy it. Then, go share something with someone. Be the artist.” -Sally Stopper
Gary Steven Groves graduated the San Francisco Art Institute with a BFA in Photography in 1984. He is a art dealer, photographer and painter. As a artist he works with traditional gelatin silver prints in black and white, color pigment prints and also paints in a geometric approach. His photography combines images with the use of a plastic camera to produce a pictorial effect with a collage of subjects to create landscapes from all over the world. His concerns vary, from history to architecture, religion and the environment. All of these subjects are created with a very individual and ethereal technique he has practiced in photography for decades. His most recent work has moved to the median of painting where his environmental concerns are addressed in a geometric non objective approach at first but then upon further scrutiny do reveal Subject. This is best expressed for example in his series ‘Water’.
The artist owns and operates a studio in Atlantic
Highlands New Jersey.
