The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council (AHAC) is committed to enabling all visitors to experience its classes and workshops, exhibitions, and public programs. We recognize the diversity of our community’s abilities and needs, and accommodations will be made to allow the fullest level of participation possible.
AHAC provides barrier-free access to our facilities. The street entrance gallery includes our exhibition space, movable pedestals, a movable piano, small kitchen area, ADA-compliant public restroom, and two storage areas for AHAC volunteers only. Four seats for public use are located on the side wall between the kitchenette and restroom. Five stairs lead up to the second storage area with a rear door to the outside gravel backyard. The backyard is not a public programming space.
The gallery space and two front glass window displays are used for rotating exhibitions approximately six weeks in length. The main gallery is also used for classes, workshops, film screenings, small events, and artist talks throughout the year. To the right of the main entrance, the ArtSHOP houses unique handmade wares from local artists with boutique items for sale rotating every three months.
There is a sidewalk in front of the building, with curb cuts at various entrance points, and free street parking.
All exhibitions include a virtual component with each image online in a slideshow with the artwork information, artist biographies or statements, and Alt Text on images.
The AHAC does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission or access to, treatment of or employment in, its services, programs, or activities. Upon request, accommodation will be provided to allow individuals with disabilities to participate in AHAC’s services, programs, and activities.
Upon request, program information will be made available in alternative formats such as Braille, large print, and/or digital recordings.
Upon request, and preferably with two weeks notice prior to the public event, CART services, American Sign Language interpretation, and/or assistive listening devices will be provided at public programs.
